Sept 15, 2017 update
Delays in Ice Pad replacement Project
"Curling should start by late November 2017"
Expected completion is now mid November. Unfortunately, construction delays have impacted our seasonal start-up. However, we recognize this is a significant long-term benefit for our facility and community, and are working cooperatively with the City of DC to see it completed in a timely and professional manner. Thanks to Canada 150 who contributed $500K to kick-start this project!
We are looking forward to a significantly improved facility - everthing on the ice side of the glass will be virtually brand new!

Team Scoffin members include former Dawson Creek residents and junior champions Tristan Steinke and Jason Ginter. And we had 10 teams in the Junior round-robin Division!! March 31, 2016 - New Club Champions crowned... For the first time since our playoff format commenced in 2011, our club champs are from the Mens League. Congrats to Team Bourassa - Don Bourassa, Jeff Ginter, spare Neil McDonald (for Eric Smart) and Mike Readman. Team Bourassa used a big 4-ender to topple a tough Team Hegge (John Hegge, Dennis Meier, Ron Moch and Brad Richardson) in the final.
Since 2011, our club championship pits the top two teams from each of the ladies, mens mixed and commercial leagues in a single elimination playoff.
DCCC Alumni and former junior champions Tristan Steinke and Jason Ginter represented the University of Alberta at the National Curling Canada / CIS University Championships in Kelowna Mar 20-23. As defending national champs, the U of A Golden Bears went undefeated (8-0) in round robin and semi-final play but lost the championship final to a good Wilfred Laurier team. Settling for silver is tough anytime, but after going 17-0 over two years at nationals, they lost THE game that would have sent them to Kazakhstan as Team Canada for the World Universiade in 2017. Tough break men, but so much to be proud of... In addition to a national silver medal, three of their team were named to the first team all-star squad, including Jason who averaged an amazing 90% for the entire week. Great reps from our junior program at the DCCC!
March 5, 2016. We are pleased to announce a partnership with RICHARDSON PIONEER! Our facility is in need of a number of upgrades and as such, we are in the midst of creating a renewable 3-5 year capital improvements plan. RICHARDSON PIONEER recognized our need and have stepped up in a big way with a significant donation of $25,000.00!! These funds will be used for facilty improvements.
Our annual MR MIKES Steakhouse Casual Mens Bonspiel took place Mar 4-6, 2016. 24 teams competed, representing Taylor, Spirit River, Grande Prairie, LaGlace, Fort St. John and Dawson Creek. The highest # since 2007, a positive sign of our new growth.
The event was highlighted by the announcement of RICHARDSON PIONEER's $25,000.00 donation for facility upgrades; a very significant and generous community-minded gesture!!

Dawson Creek member and staffer Murray Lawrence earned a trip to the Juvenile Provincials as last rock thrower for Team Tremblay of FSJ. Team Tremblay won the "Peace A" berth on Feb 6th at Districts. Provincials were March 4-6 in Lacombe, Alberta. The boys finished the 6-team event with 2 wins, 3 losses; something to build on... As an FYI, Team Tremblay has trained occasionally as a team at the DCCC and have supported our spiels and events throughout the 2015-16 season.
Dawson Creek member Rob Griffiths represented the PCA A at Alberta Masters Provincials with his brother Colin at the helm - Feb 24-28 at High River, AB. The Griffith squad lost a tough semi-final... Congrats Rob!!
Our 2016 annual ladies spiel was a success! Feb 19-21 saw 16 teams take to the ice in a true triple KO format to qualify an 8-team Championship event. In the end, it was Team Smithard - Shirley Smithard, Michelle Wingerak, Sue Lavoie and Rimitta Benning who emerged as champions after defeating Team Suderman in the final. Some incredible costumes in the themed letter "A" were a highlight of Saturday's events...
A 20+ year high of 32 teams was the highlight of an awesome Farmer's / Mixed Annual Bonspiel on Jan 29-31 at the DCCC. Marlene Maxwell and her crew of Garnet Berge, Cheryl Ireland and Glenna Beamer emerged as spiel champs, but the big winner was the DC Curling Club as we put ourselves back on the map as a destination of choice for bonspieling teams. Terrific sponsor support, combined with exceptional volunteers and a party spirit rocked our club all weekend. Way to go everyone!!
Dawson Creek Team Veiner with skip Darrel Veiner, 3rd Nick Palinkas, 2nd Brad Richardson and all-star lead Glen Roszmann earned a trip to Coaldale for AB Senior Mens Provincials, Feb 16-21 by winning the B event of the Districts! Congrats! Team Veiner finished tied for fourth, one game out the playoffs.
Dawson Creek resident Tristan Steinke defended his Junior Mens Provincial title and represented Team Alberta Jan 23-31 in Stratford, Ontario, at the Canadian Junior Mens National Championship. The boys finished only one game out of the playoffs at 6-4; tied for 4th in Canada! Dawson Creek's Murray Lawrence won the PCTour Challenge Division Championship as third (throwing 4th) for juvenile Team Tremblay. A great achievement for such a young team!! And they are $2000 richer as a result!!
Dawson Creek's Taylor Dutka won the PCTour Junior Division Championship as part of Team Smith. Congrats Taylor!! News article at http://www.alaskahighwaynews.ca/sports/dawson-creek/junior-curling-rocks-the-peace-1.2151946
Dawson Creek's Jeff Ginter, with local curlers Tracy Steinke, Mark Heartt and Wayne Radke were semi-finalists in the Competitive Division at the PCTour Championships.
We had a record 40 teams enter the 2015 Dawson Creek Cash Spiel (our 43rd Annual) on Nov 27-29! Over $16,000 in prize money was awarded. Kurt Balderston of GP/Sexsmith claimed the top prize of $2500 in the competitive division.
The City of Dawson Creek has scheduled our ice pad replacement for the summer of 2017!!
OUR LOST SEASON:
As we close the books on an unexpected and unfortunate 2014-15 year, our Board of Directors has approved the refund of all 14-15 curling dues and advertising investments. This is a significant decision, and the right one, however it will challenge our club finances moving forward. Please bear with us as we sort through this process in the most prudent manner. Most importantly, recognize we want and need all of our former members and advertisers to return, and for each to bring a friend!
The optimism within our club is at an all-time high going into NEXT SEASON!!
Please take a moment to check out the Various sections for more details on what
The Dawson Creek Curling Club has to Offer
